Geoff Stahl is a Senior Lecturer in Media Studies, at Victoria University of Wellington, Aotearoa/New Zealand. His research areas include scenes and subcultures, urban studies, semiotics and food studies.

His publications include co-authoring Understanding Media Studies (Oxford University Press 2009), the edited collections Poor, But Sexy: Reflections on Berlin Scenes (Peter Lang 2014), (with Shelley Brunt) Made in Australia and Aotearoa/New Zealand: Studies in Popular Music (Routledge 2018),(with Giacomo Bottà) Nocturnes: Popular Music at Night (Palgrave, 2019), (with J. Mark Percival) The Bloomsbury Handbook on Music and Place (forthcoming 2019), as well as numerous articles and book chapters on urban musical culture in Berlin, Montreal, and Wellington.
